This new stranger, or should he say one of his new friends was really wanting to help him out, which Alex appreciated. He made sure to thank him later for his kindness. As for what he learned about Kazuya, it seemed he went to more of those special high schools than he ever went to and gaining positions as a pillar...twice, surprising Alex.
"Twice!? You must be a strong fighter then. I had a dream to become a Pillar, but I was too weak, no matter how much I trained and got into fights, I couldn't beat a single one. That's why I decided to let that dream stay a dream. I'll never be as strong as they were. I congratulate you on making it to the pillar position"

"If it's language barriers with the locals you're worried about, I can help with that too. I'm currently on summer break, so I can take you to Shibuya and translate anything you need to ask the locals about."
A slight smile creeping its way onto his face as he continued to "look" at Alex, though it was difficult to make out in the dim but calming lighting of the cathedral, as another flash of lightning lit up the holy place, Alex would be able to make out, for a split second, Kazuya's pupil-less eyes, before being hidden once more by the shadows cast onto his face. Giving a slight shake of his head, though Alex was correct, in that he was strong, he never saw himself as formidable, because there was always someone out there who was better. The first time he was a Pillar, he was the Student Body President, and was the brains to Matrim Gallagher's brawn, and the second time, he had once more been the Student Body President, to Kevala Katashi. Though he had been the Varsity Captain under David Blaze, back at 259, he didn't consider that as holding a Pillar position, because when Gabriel Seran became School Captain, he had given his position up, as David was the only captain he would follow willingly.
"Technically three times, but the second time I don't really count, as I willingly gave it up when someone took the title of School Captain from the previous holder. The former School Captain, David Blaze, was the only School Captain I would willingly follow, and so I gave up my title alongside my girlfriend and fellow Pillar, the Student Body President, Emily Delos Santos. Defeating a Pillar is no easy task. No one ever challenged me for my title, and so I kept it until both schools ended up shutting down due to lack of funding. That is the dream of many a student who attended the public high schools. Many wanted to obtain the title of Pillar, but few could achieve it."
Frowning slightly at Alex, his way of thought sounded similar to how Kazuya was back then. For years, he was always in the shadow of David Blaze and Leon Sudeki. He strove to become stronger, so he could challenge both of them, beat them, and earn a Dragon title of his own... so he could finally step out of their shadows. Though he did not manage to, having graduated, after moving back to Japan and building up a formidable reputation in the underground fighting circuit, he eventually managed to step out of their shadows and become his own person. He also had a Dragon title of his own, though not one from his high school days, but it was close enough.
"Don't put yourself down like that. It is true that Pillars are the strongest students in the entire school, and to beat one is no easy task, but to say you are weak, is not true. You will be strong as they were one day, Alex. Out of curiosity, who were the Pillars at 552? I obviously won't recognize their names, but I'm rather curious as to who were the strongest students in all of 552."

This was going to be his first time ever going to Japan, and it might be that he would be staying there for the rest of his summer break, especially going to the capital city, Tokyo. His trips while being at school sucked, they stayed nearby and never went to explore the world. Another flash of lightning brightened the area for a second and within those seconds he saw something strange about Kazuya...his eyes. He thought it was an illusion of the lightning playing tricks in him, so he decided not to speak of it.
"I feel weak, maybe I just need to train more. As for the pillars in 552, the school captain was a german guy named Macht Starke, he was like a cyborg or something. One of his arms was prosthetic, made out of tough steel. I never really got to interact with him, so that's all I know about him. The same goes to Vivi Perish and Lex, those were the other 2 pillars, but I had a clash with a certain pillar. His name was Shugo Yuy, my darkness in me took control and did everything to ruin his life, from targeting his loved ones to helping his enemies... I don't know how it took control, but it did. Ironically, he chose me to be his successor when he left on his own journey, maybe as a sign of forgiveness, but I couldn't forgive myself, so a few weeks later, I decided to run away to start fresh. I've gotten a bit used to my powers, but not fully controlled it. Sometimes it just appears. My memories are the only thing that can help me master my power completely, at least that's what I think. In the meantime, I have a request....maybe you can train me to control it. I'm sorry if my request is too much, but I don't want the past to repeat itself."

"Do not worry about it. If it'll help put you one step closer to regaining your lost memories, there is no need for repayment. Well... Training is good, it does help to discipline your mind, and gradually over time, you do grow stronger, even if you don't realize it. Everyone has darkness in their hearts, but what sets people apart is whether they can embrace and overcome that darkness."
Turning his head slightly to "look" a little more closely at Alex, though his facial features were not easy to make out, as Kazuya could only "see" his heat signature, he could however, tell Alex's conviction was true. Macht Starke, Shugo Yuy, Lex, and Vivi Perish. The four Pillars of Public High School #552. It seemed the Pillars influenced Alex more than just a simple desire to defeat one and obtain the title of Pillar from them. Shugo in particular, had a far bigger impact on Alex. This reminded Kazuya very much of his own past situation with David, and how his own desire to become a Pillar, became more than just that. It became a desire to grow stronger, so he could stand side by side with David as equals. Rising up from the bench he sat on, Kazuya would slip out from his row, and stride down towards Alex, stopping beside the bench he sat on, his arms still folded across his arms.
"... Your request is not too much, far from it actually. If anything, your wish to avoid repeating the past is a sign you've grown mentally. I am more than willing to train you to control your Qi but... are you certain you wish to train with someone you just met? ... If that is what you wish, while you are visiting Japan and Shibuya, you may stay at my family's home. It's far better than a hotel, and we have a dojo and a large field behind the estate we can use for training."
If Alex looked down, he would see Kazuya had unfolded one arm and held his hand out to him, for a handshake, as proof of the two of them sealing the contract of sorts made. Fully controlling one's Qi, especially darkness, was no easy task. Even now, after having his Qi for 9 years, Kazuya still had yet to fully discover its potential. There was always new techniques waiting for him to unlock.

"I know enough about you to make a good choice. You are not some stranger but an acquaintance of sorts in my mind,"Alex stood up and proceeded to shake his hand that symbolized the closing of a deal, a promise to keep, and a sign that they would surely meet again. In his mind, he was glad to see that someone was willing to help him out and to piece together the shattered chain of memories he had.
"If we plan on going to Japan, I'll need to know when you'll be at the terminal so we can depart at the same time and to break language barriers and to guide me, a new person like me could easily get lost in the crowded streets of Tokyo."
This was the start to a new adventure and Alex hid his excitement. He knew he needed to save it for Tokyo.

"Tokyo is known for being quite crowded. Though your hair wouldn't be hard to spot in the crowd, it would stand out among the sea of black haired Japanese citizens."
Firmly gripping Alex's hand in his own and shaking it, sealing the deal and promise made between them, Kazuya would release his hand after a little bit, before refolding his arm across his chest, as another flash of lightning lit up the cathedral, this time giving Alex a much better view of his pupil-less eyes, showing that it was not in fact, an illusion, as he previously thought. An acquaintance... He supposed he could say the same of Alex. Though he didn't know very much about the young detective, he knew the young man was a good person, despite his other self, and that was enough. Hearing the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance, as the rain seemed to have eased off momentarily, Kazuya would lift his eyes up to the windows above, before "looking" back down at Alex.
"It sounds like the rain has eased up momentarily. You should probably head back to your hotel before the rain picks up again. We're on the same flight, which departs at 2:45AM, and since we have to check-in 4 hours before departure time for international flights, I'll be at the terminal at around 11PM. I'll drop your ticket off at your hotel once I've gotten back to my hotel room and confirmed the reservation. Which hotel are you staying at currently?"

That last flash of lightning made his eyes visible again, revealing that something was truly wrong, he had no pupils. Due to how kind Alex was, he didn't want to talk about his strange eyes. If only Alex knew that those eyes weren't strange, they were the eyes of a blind person...
"Kahala Hotel and Resort, the Imperial Suite. Its the penthouse of the resort. I saved up for some time to get that suite. Its not far from here, approximately a 15 minute walk. I'll be as punctual as I can."
Alex got his umbrella out of the plastic bag while he said this. He would have to hurry to pack up his belongings, prepare to be awake for 4 more hours, and to get used to a different time zone. He also had to make sure to act as polite as possible to the family of Kazuya, though he knew that it would probably involve dinner with bits of awkwardness and "why is there some foreigner here" since language is a problem. Hopefully things went better than he thought they would.
"Alright, I'll see you soon and thank you, Kazuya," Alex said as he walked out calmly from his row, through the cathedral doors, and into the wet streets of Honolulu.

"Understood. I'll head back immediately and deliver the reservation papers to the front desk of your hotel once I've confirmed the reservation. It shouldn't take very long."
Taking a step back as Alex got up and pulled his umbrella out of the plastic bag he had placed it in, Kazuya would give Alex a small bow of his head in return to his thanks, before watching the young man step out of the pew and make his way out of the cathedral. As soon as the doors closed shut behind Alex after he walked out, Kazuya would turn to face the front of the cathedral, "staring" up at presumably, the crucifix of Jesus Christ hanging up above the altar. No matter what, he would do everything in his power to help Alex regain his memories, even if it was a small portion. Whirling around on his heel, his clothes making a slight swishing sound from the movement, Kazuya would make his own way out of the cathedral, as he would activate his Qi once more, surrounding his entire body in fire to keep the rain off him, as he would make his way back to the hotel.
He had only a few hours to get everything packed up and confirm the flight reservation for Alex, before heading back home to Japan, his contract from his client fulfilled.
