Above the sparsely occupied but drenched streets of Honolulu, late at night, perched on top of a relatively well shape cathedral, several gargoyle statues still stood, dotting the cathedral spires like sentries... and one that was not a statue at all. Seated high above the street in the pouring rain, the intense flames surrounding Kazuya's entire body evaporating the rain and keeping him dry, he was doing important Dragon Slayer stuff, because that's what Dragon Slayers do.
Okay not really, he was spending some time by himself, as he sometimes did when he had some time off after finishing a job. He certainly wasn't up here to take in the amazing view of the city, seeing as he was blind after all, and the most he could "see" was the different heat signatures of the people walking around the city. Though Kaori was back in Japan, Kyoko looking after her while he was gone, it was too late at night to get some of his daily training in, as he'd probably wake up the rest of the city with his martial arts cries.

Alex loved the rain, he loved feeling the multiple drops of water hit his face and body, it felt like if he was being purified from all of the evil he had committed in the past. It was that reason that brought him away from his hotel suite towards the rainy streets of Honolulu, making sure to bring an umbrella so he doesn't end up soaking wet on his return. At night, the streets were relatively empty, so it was fairly easy to walk around without being disturbed. Stopping by a cathedral, Alex walked in, folding his black umbrella closed and into a plastic bag to avoid leaving a trail of water. Surprisingly, the place was empty, usually there was those five people who stayed up all night at the cathedral to seek spiritual guidance, but looked like tonight he had the whole place to himself...which was perfect. Alex took a seat on a the nearest bench to the entrance and closed his eyes to think, to daydream. He needed a little break from reality.

The sound of the cathedral doors opening just barely heard above the patter of the rain as it fell, the Fire Dragon would "look" down in mild interest as a black umbrella would disappear into the cathedral after being folded and placed in a plastic bag by the young man holding it. Aware that there was no one else inside the cathedral now besides the young man, having seen the majority of the occupants that were previously seated inside seeking spiritual guidance or reflection leave before the rain became too heavy, in the distance, he could hear the low rumble of thunder, which would soon be followed by a flash of lightning.
"... It would seem I was not the only one who wished to spend some time alone."
A voice would speak up from up above the young man, if he looked up, he would see the Fire Dragon standing on the balcony, one hand resting on the wooden railing, where the church choir would assemble every Sunday mass, the window he had entered through a ways below the beam he had been perched on previously. After lunging off the beam ledge he had been up on prior, he had free-fallen through the air towards his target, a beam ledge below, and as soon as his target was in sight, both his hands shot out and grabbed hold of the ledge, using the momentum to swing himself up and over the ledge, landing on top of it in a crouching position. He then quickly scuttled across the beam towards a nearby open window, and slipped in quietly and unnoticed.

Daydreaming was something that happened to everyone, a sometimes, when interrupted the person can either get angry or frown at seeing that he was imagining a reality that never existed but would rather continue daydreaming instead of being brought back to reality. In this case, the person was Alex, his daydream interrupted by the voice of another, which made a small frown appear on his face as he had come back to reality. He stood up and looked around to see where the voice came from, and found out that the voice wasn't something he made up, but was an actual person who seemed to be on his own search for answers by the looks of it. Why else would anyone want to be left alone?
"I thought I was the only one in here," the young man said, not having to yell to the man above him since the structure amplified sound, "I'm guessing you are looking for answers, like me. I'm sorry if my presence interrupted your alone time."
Alex kept looking at the man from below, wanting to find out more about him and to the reason that brought him here other than shelter from the rain.

"That was the case originally. There's no need to apologize, if anything, I should be the one apologizing. It was obvious you were deep in thought, my apologies."
Vaulting himself over the solid wooden panel railing and slipping over the edge of the balcony, landing on the main floor of the cathedral below on both feet, causing the floor to shake slightly from the impact, once the dust that had been kicked up settled, he would straighten up and face the young man in front of him. Taking a step towards him, Kazuya would casually stride towards him, before stopping two rows behind the bench the young man sat on. The twin katanas he carried on his back visible to the young man by this time, he would step into the row he stood beside, before taking a seat, his arms casually folded across his chest. Outside, the rain would continue to pour down, as thunder would rumble loudly, before a flash of lightning followed, lighting up the cathedral through the windows above.
"... Though it is not answers I seek. Rather, I was simply spending some time by myself after having finished something up. But what kind of answers are you looking for, to find solace in this holy place?"

Alex watched the man, his twin katanas and the dust that came from his landing made him wonder who he was.
"Its fine, no need to apologize. I was just thinking about my past, what I could've done differently. They say that holy places like this cathedral are a place for answers, so I came here."
The cathedral stained glass patterns reflected on the floor of the cathedral every now and then from the lightning. The rain pouring down increased for a while before calming down. Alex knew that he would be in here until the rain stopped or the storm passed.
"We haven't introduced ourselves yet, I'm Alex Dragon, Detective.What might yours be?"

A detective seeking answers and reflecting on his past huh? That was a new one. "Looking" straight at Alex, Kazuya pondered for a moment whether to respond in kind with his real name, or his code name, but with his job completed, he had flipped the hood of his outfit down, as there was no need to keep his face hidden, now that the target of his contract had been eliminated, so with his appearance revealed, he concluded there was no reason to hide his name to this young man. After all, no one, aside from the other members of the Dragon Slayers and the Hikari-gumi knew of his profession.
"Kazuya Hikari, university student. It's nice to meet you, Alex."
Giving a polite bow of his head, if he was in Japan, anyone who was anyone would've recognized his surname, as his father was the CEO of one of the most powerful organizations in Tokyo, but this was not Japan, but Hawaii, and he was, after tonight, just another tourist visiting Honolulu.
"I wish the best of luck to you to find the answers to the different outcomes that could've happened in your past. Thinking what should've, could've, would've, is not the easiest matter to reflect on. It doesn't look like the thunderstorm will be letting up any time soon either. If you are ever in need of someone to talk to, feel free to speak up to me on any matters you have."

The detective memorized his name in his mind. He thought he was one of those evil doers that committed crime, but an evil person wouldn't show a drop of respect or kindness, and that bow sealed the deal.
"Thanks. I haven't had anyone offer me help before here in Hawaii before. In my stay here, all I did was focus on my work, but now this detective seems to be less needed now days. I'm missing the action and adventure that I used to have solving crime...but that's enough about me rambling about my problems although I appreciate your help. But I do have one question: Why the katanas? I don't know if its a university national holiday or just props. I wouldn't go out into the streets like that, police might get suspicious. "

"... Heh. These days crime isn't as rampant as it was in the last few years, but I'd just enjoy the downtime while you have it. I guarantee some gang or organization will surface and keep your life busy. The katanas...? Oh... You mean my costume play props? They aren't fake, if you were wondering. They are made from real metal and wood."
Jerking one thumb to the twin katanas on his back, he wasn't exactly lying. They weren't fake, but were in fact forged by the blacksmith Murata Tadashi, who not only worked for his great-grandfather, but also forged the katana that belonged to his father, which had been passed down to him from his grandfather, as proof of Kane taking over as the family boss of the Hikari-gumi. However, they weren't for costume play, or cosplay, but were in fact, his weapon of choice for assassinations. Most of the time, he stuck to his Qi, but for this particular contract, he needed his twin katanas to get through the underground free-for-all tournament that his target had been hosting, winning it in order to close enough to kill him.
Thankfully for Kazuya, there had, in fact, been an anime convention held nearby, so once the job was done, he had blended in well enough with the other cosplayers as they left the convention hall.
"I wouldn't worry too much. If the police are worried about people carrying weapons, then they'd have their hands full with the hundred plus cosplayers that were at the convention center earlier. My hotel isn't that far from here anyways. That's a little surprising to hear though. Though I suppose being a detective isn't the most safest of jobs. Where were you before you came to Hawaii, if I may ask?"

"I came from Boston, Massachusetts in America. Before I reached Boston, I was somewhere else, but I don't remember where. You see, someone messed with my memories, so the details are kinda of hard to remember. I don't why someone would mess with my memories , but I guess they were after my strange power... "
Alex remembered most of his journey ,but sometimes his memories lied to him. This would probably explain why he spends so much time thinking. He didn't have Alzheimer's or anything, he was perfectly normal, he was just trying to piece together the chain of memories. In his mind.

"... I see. That's quite the journey, and to have someone tinker with your memories, all in order to go after your Qi I would assume? That is the only strange power I can think of that a person would have."
His brows furrowing slightly, it was not unheard of for people to go after a person with Qi. When he was in his first year of high school, religious fanatics had invaded the school his father had built, in an attempt to kill all Qi-users, as the leader believed only God should have powers like that. The hypocritical part was, as he learned later on, the leader had a Qi of his own, which he had used to mind-control all of his followers.
"I came from Tokyo, Japan. I still live there, actually. I just came here to visit a friend for two weeks."
Actually, more like two days, but since he had completed the job, he was free to do as he liked until the deadline for the job came, which had been midnight today, after which, he would be leaving back for Japan early in the morning.
"Do you remember anything about where you were prior to Boston though? A landmark or anything? Even a vague visual is better than nothing, perhaps I can help you remember. I've traveled to many places, so I might know of the place you were at before."

He really wanted to help him, to regain his forgotten memories.
"Yes, they were after that. I'm a special one from where I came from....I wasn't like the rest of the Qi users.." Alex paused for a while, he was thinking of anything that could help. His adventures took him everywhere, mainly to escape from his dark family and the Knights that followed him everywhere for his unique power. Countless of places, countless of memories, but he could only remember fragments of it. As he tried to remember, all he found were fragments of a word.
"Ha....chi.....ko. Hachiko? I don't know if that's a lead or anything, but thats the only thing that I can remember so far before Boston, though I know that as time goes on I'll be able to remember more. You know what they say, sometimes memories just need a little help getting out."

Hachiko? As in the dog, Hachiko? That's the only thing that came to Kazuya's mind when he heard that word. If that was what Alex was referring to, then he probably was thinking of Shibuya, which is where the statue of Hachiko was located. He didn't know if that would be of much help though. Still, anything was better than nothing. And if what Alex said was true, getting his memories back was instrumental in understanding just why someone would go through the trouble of messing around with them in the first place.
"... Hachiko is the name of a Akita Inu from Japan. There is a statue of him located in Shibuya. That's all that comes to my mind when I hear that word. It also means, when broken down into its individual kanji, 'eight' and 'affectionate.' I'm not sure if it's of any help though. Do you remember anything else? Perhaps an old high school? I attended many public high schools in the United States previously, so I may know of one you attended."

Alex started to think again. Did I come from Japan, was one of the things that came into his mind.
"Shibuya...I should take the trip there, maybe I'll be able to remember more, to retrace my memories."
The word Shibuya sounded familiar in his mind and if the name Hachiko belongs to a stone statue of a dog there, then that must be where he will get more clues. Maybe once he regains all his memories, he'll be back to his true self again...which made him wonder if he was himself.
"High Schools...I remember clearly from my days at Boston to here and I did attend a Public High School, one in New York called #552 but I haven't seen someone like you during my time there. Things went a bit crazy there. You probably heard of it in the news or something."

Giving a slight nod of his head, anything was worth a shot, really. If Alex managed to regain even a little of his memories, nothing was a waste. Nothing was ever gained without a little work and effort, most of all, lost memories. Honestly, Kazuya couldn't even begin to imagine what it was like to have your memories fiddled with and unable to remember a better part of your past. All his memories, good and bad, were precious to him, and made him who he was to this day.
"If you need help getting to Japan, I may be able to help. My friend was supposed to join my on the return flight back, but before I could confirm his reservation, he had to cancel, so I have an extra ticket, but with no name to it. You may have it, if you'd like. Public High School #552... Sorry, the name is unfamiliar to me. I've heard of it on the news definitely, but the only public high schools I attended were 650, 42, 259, and 774."
He had transferred to a lot of schools during his high school life, but however short his time had been in each school, he had made many friends... and met the one girl he would always love, no matter what.
"I'd imagine 552 was similar to the ones I attended. Used the Corporal Punishment System, had a Pillar system. Many used the same systems back then. I was even a Pillar at two of the schools I attended."
