What is a gang? Well it isn't a miserable little pile of secrets. A gang is a gathering of people, of minds and bodies, many of whom have similar strong beliefs. The reasons behind coming together are far and few in between, whether to fight back against the way things are or even to cause mass destruction, but no matter the reason, it's all up to the members and the plot they have in mind for their characters.
We understand being a follower isn't always everyone's favorite role, but it often leads to more satisfying character development as you rise through the ranks through role playing. For this reason, we have a few requirements you must meet before putting together a gang of your very own. All you need to do to get started is reach the Accustomed rank (300 posts), and have at least two different PCs willing to follow/join your faction. Three of the characters involved must be role played by three different members: Multiple accounts under the same user don't count toward the three required.
This doesn't mean that you can't incorporate self-created gangs within your own application: Quite the opposite, actually. So long as your PC isn't the head of the faction, you are more than welcome to bring your own gang creations into the world of Sunset:Road to Nowhere. Whether you rise up to lead said gang, or put together your own faction: That's up to you. If you have any questions about gangs at all, please feel free to PM staff.
BUILDING YOUR GANG:
From having your own gang, you get your own gangsters. Gangsters are gained solely based on your Skill Points which are acquired through Gang Training, mainly, but may also be rewarded from quests and events. Here is the formula to figure out your total members, and how many of each rank you're working with:
Each total point gives five average gangsters.
Half of your total points, rounded up/down if above/below .5, gives three veteran gangsters.
One-quarter of your total points, rounded up/down if above/below .5, gives one commander.
Say we have someone looking to start a gang, and he has 10 Skill Points in total:
This means for the 10 Skill Points they have, they gain a total of 68 members in their gang. Not too shabby, huh?
The size of your gang is affected solely by the most powerful members in the gang. Only the four highest ranked PCs in each gang can add their own points to the total Skill Points of their gang: The leader is obviously one of the four aforementioned ranked members.
Training:
Once every month, you will be able to train your gang members and earn Skill Points. To do so, you will make a thread where training will take place involving your gang members. It will be a one-shot thread, unless there are other PCs in your gang, in which case, they will be doing the training alongside you, to achieve the same goal.
Training threads will allow you to earn Skill Points, thereby increasing the number of gangsters you have. This will also affect any gang members you gain after the training has been completed.
Ex. Kane Hikari does a training thread. The reward would be:
This applies to members gained after training threads have been completed.
Note: All the gang leaders making up The Big Five start with 60 Skill Points. They are generally staff run, and as such, it is to be assumed that any you meet will have a substantial amount of members in their respective gang.
Gang Symbol:
All gangs will have some sort of emblem or, in some cases a tattoo, representing the gang they belong to. Though it serves no major purpose, it does serve as a means of identifying who belongs in which gang. Gain more notoriety for your gang, and your symbol will start to mean more and more within the global underground.
- All Gang NPC's automatically have their gang symbol somewhere on their person.
Territory:
To establish you are a gang leader to be reckoned with, you must claim a region of a country. In order to do this, you must take the region by negotiation or force. If you would like to claim a region through fighting or negotiation, fill out the form below and post in the Quests board.
If you are declaring war, a member of staff will GM the fight for you, and, if you defeat the enemy gang leader or the branch leader ruling over that specific region, it is yours to keep. If you are negotiating, a member of staff will GM whichever leader you are looking to gain the territory of. You can use whatever means to try and accomplish your goal, whether through peace talks, or outright intimidating them into surrender. If you succeed, the territory is yours. If not, a gang war will more than likely break out.
