On the outskirts of Kuliouou Valley, cliffs rising up against the backdrop of the sky above, a small river snaked its way through the surrounding palm trees, terminating at a rather high waterfall emptying into a small pool of water, surrounded by palm trees, an enclosure of sorts. Sitting beneath the waterfall, a lone figure could be seen sitting beneath it, the water crashing down full force onto the figure's head and back.
His eyes shut tight, sitting cross-legged on top of a flat wide slab of rock, Kazuya would continue to meditate, ignoring the bitter cold water crashing down on top of him, the water running in streams down his muscular upper body. A thin veil of steam forming from the cold water making contact with his skin, as his body temperature was higher than usual, making it seem like he had a mild fever, an effect of his Qi, he had been here since early in the morning. Dressed in just a pair of white Karate pants, the rest of his gi were neatly folded and resting on top a rock far a bit away from the pool of water.

We're in the same game Just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different devils.
It was a beautiful day with the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky. It was hard to be gloomy with all it's glory shining about. Being stuck in the house was not an option, hell it never really was on Hawaii unless there was a storm then batten down the hatches. Never knew what a storm on the island might entail. The sun kissed her skin while she stood on the patio of her bungalow taking in the scenery like she did everyday there. No matter how many times she had seen it each and every day it was breathtaking. It was new and refreshing. She closed her eyes allowing the gentle breeze to flow past her only to find herself curling a smile not at the breeze but at the small creak of the floor she heard behind her. Someone was trying to be a sneaky little monkey.
"Rawr!"
"Aah!"
Eury playfully exclaimed as she fell to the ground in a mock fainting spell. The little girl that jumped out at her initially laughed before quickly turning into worry over the state her mother was in.
"Mommie?! Mommie, I sowry. Mommie you o-"
"Rawr gotcha!"
"Eeeek!"
Eury quickly reached up grabbing her daughter, pulling the little tike on top of her and commencing in the tickle torture technique. Pure joyous laughter erupted from the pair as the little girl, Amara, begged for her mother to stop.
"Had enough huh? That's what you get for trying to scare people little missy."
"Aloha. I see you two are having fun.. I brought the other rugrats like you asked, so where we taking them?"
"Aloha Ano.. I figured why not treat them to that nice little spot. It'd be a fun getaway. Right kids, fun!"
"You spoil them sometimes."
The kids exclaimed their excitement in an eruption of cheering. A group of ten boys and girls ranging from seven to nine the word fun meant the world to them. Eury gave her friend Ano a smile as she got up scooping up Amara and headed back in to grab some things for their little journey. Within a matter of minutes they were on their way. As they made their way the kids laughed and joked with one another while Eury and Ano kept a good eye on them. Once the near the destination the kids grew more excited realizing where they were. Was it slightly dangerous considering the waterfall? Maybe, but they weren't bad kids that didn't listen so the waterfall was off limits.
"And tada! Here we are go have fun, that's today's lesson. The waterfall is off limits so is anywhere deep so stay close."
Like children in a candy store they squealed and revealed their bathing suits hidden under their clothes. Amara stood by Eury's side holding her mothers hand and tugged at it grabbing her attention. Amara pointed towards the waterfall spotting something or rather someone. Eury would follow the direction catching the glimpse, she felt a bit bad if they were ruining his time there.
"Look mommie look."
"Aloha. My apologies on the intrusion. Normally no one really comes here often. I hope we're not disturbing you."
Eury spoke out to the stranger in the waterfall, meanwhile one of the boys that hadn't gone into the water yet found the man's Gi, picking it up he would examine it and express his interest.
"Oh coooool. There's a karate master around here. Look what I found."
"It's not yours put it back, Riley."

Cracking one eye open at the sound of a voice calling out a greeting and apology to him, having been unable to hear the happy squeals of the kids over the roar of the waterfall as the water continued to crash down on his head, he would fully open his other eye and glance around, "noticing" the group of boys and girls in the shallow end of the waterfall pool, as well as one of the boys who had picked up the top of his Karate gi and was examining it with interest. Climbing to his feet, Kazuya would walk out from underneath the waterfall, as he would casually wave one hand, letting the woman know he did not mind. As long as his sleeveless gi top didn't end up even more worn out, as one could see it was frayed around the shirt holes, there was no harm done.
Standing at the edge of the slab of rock he had been mediating on, water running down his face and upper body, Kazuya would carefully make his way off the rock and over to the bank of grass beside the pool, where his top was originally folded and resting on top of another rock. Stepping over to the woman and the young girl he presumed to be her daughter, he would stop in front of them, casually folding his arms across his chest, letting the boy look over his gi as much as he wanted before asking for it back.
"Not at all. I had come to meditate, but it is not like this waterfall belongs to me alone. I would ask what brings you all out here, but my question has already been answered. Are you interested in Karate?"
Kazuya would ask the boy as he turned to him, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. To say he was a Karate master was not completely accurate. He did practice Karate, and he was a black belt, but there was always more for him to learn. He could however, teach others the basics of Karate.
"Ah, forgive my manners. I am Kazuya, it is nice to meet you...?"

We're in the same game Just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different devils.
As strong and independent Eury might have been didn't mean she was numb to the occasional attraction of a shirtless guy, especially with such a defined physique. However she wasn't superficial, looks weren't going to win her over - not that he was trying. He really wasn't doing anything but being himself clearly. But she wouldn't deny the fact she gave him a glance over once he stood up and began walking from beneath the falling water. Eury wasn't a woman to gush over a male though so the look was in passing as he gestured it was fine.
Riley still held up the top of the Gi as another boy and girl soon joined wondering what he was rambling about. The man from the falls came down closer, standing before Eury and Amara with folded arms. Amara simply stared up at the tall stranger still holding her mothers hand with curiosity written on her little features. Eury offered a soft smile to the man who soon introduced himself as Kazuya. Riley and the other two looked up to Kazuya all speaking at once saying 'yea'. Riley added on after everyone.
"Karate is hu'i hu'i bruh."
"Karate is cool, he said."
Eury assumed Kazuya wasn't familiar with the Hawaiian language, in truth it was a rarity that most would be considering. But she took time to study it and when she was there tried to keep it amongst the main lost traditions of the island. A soft smile remained as she addressed Kazuya.
"I'm Eurydice. Today's such a beautiful day I thought why not give them a 'snow day'..."
She mused with a light chuckle. Snow day was never gonna happen physically on Hawaii. By her words it would seem she was a teacher of sorts and Ano whom was by the ones in the water possibly and aid with her.
"Hey bruh so you know karate?! Could you show use something?"
"Riley, a little bit better manners. At least call him Mr. Kazuya instead of bruh."
"My bad. Sorry Ms. Eury. I mean Mr. Kazuya could you? It'd be so cool. Can we learn Ms. Eury?"
"That's not really my call, but I don't think it's fair to just pressure him like that. We are kinda intruding on his time."
Riley and the two others gave the biggest 'please' they could muster together with the biggest pouts to Eury and Kazuya. Eury sometimes faltered and other times didn't but she looked at Kazuya with a playful role of her eyes.
"Kids. When they're interested in something it's hard to tear them away. Honestly that's not a bad thing in most cases is it? I do apologize though, you really don't have to."

Eurydice would be correct in assuming Kazuya wasn't familiar with the Hawaiian language. Since it was his father, not he, who came to Hawaii more frequently for gang matters, Kazuya never really had much of a need to learn the language. The only times he actually came to Honolulu was either the target of a contract he took was living in the city, or as the acting leader of the Hikari-gumi, when his father was too busy with the company and unable to come himself. Continuing to smile slightly, Karate was indeed cool, when performed by someone well-trained in it. Giving a slight bow of his head as the young woman introduced herself, the day a snow day happened in Hawaii was the day he would regain his sight, which was basically never.
Waving one hand casually, he didn't mind being called bruh, it was the rather typical Hawaiian surfer lingo after all. As he was now close enough, upon closer inspection, Eurydice would be able to see his gray pupil-less eyes, and though he was blind, he was able to "see" by using his Qi to make out the heat signatures of everyone in the vicinity. Turning to and "looking" down at Riley, who had been joined by another boy and girl, he would smirk slightly as they pleaded and pouted at him and Eurydice to learn Karate.
"Having an interest in learning martial arts is never a bad thing, and learning how to defend oneself is a good skill to have. ... Very well then, I will teach you the basics of Karate, but Sensei is the correct term to call the one teaching you. Mr. Kazuya makes me sound like I am a school teacher."
Holding his hand out to Riley, to take back his gi top, if the boy handed it over to him, he would pull the top on, the water having evaporated by this time due to his higher than normal body temperature caused by his Qi, leaving his upper body dry. Leaving the gi slightly open to reveal his bare chest underneath, he would gesture for the three kids to follow him, leading them slightly away from the pool of water and over to a bigger bank of grass, but still close enough to the waterfall and the others. Once they were ready, he would take up a stance, Naihanchi-dachi, one of the basic karate stances, and motioned for them to mirror his stance. Giving each of them a one-over, he would move over to and instruct them if they had not achieved the stance, verbally telling them what to do so they could physically correct it themselves.

We're in the same game Just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different devils.
Eurydice wasn't exactly stunned, but more so taken back for a brief moment at the realization that Kazuya was blind. The way he moved and carried himself didn't feel like a person with a vision impairment. His level of attentiveness was rather interesting. He seemed to look directly at a person rather than just around them or a bit past them. Eurydice was a bit intrigued at how it was possible. Heightened senses she had heard about and studied when one lost one of them. She had even trained blind and in the dark entirely to sharpen her own, but this wasn't the same.
There was something more to him. Eurydice was no slouch when it came to picking up on things before her. She quickly noticed how he seemed to easily 'dry' himself up without the need for a towel. Little streams of steam caught her attention furthering her silent observation and hypothesis. The theories and talks of Qi were no real secret but the practice wasn't the most common. Seemingly there were sprinkles here and there, Eurydice had come across two herself one was dead, the other she was 'hunting'. It was personal. It was reactionary that she held her daughters hand just a tad tighter causing the little girl to glance up puzzling.
"Mommie?"
Eurydice offered a gentle smile to her daughter which in turn made Amara giggle back, snuggling up to her mother's arm. She refocused back on Kazuya just as he finished speaking and Riley handed him his gi. The kids sounded excited speaking in unison "Yes Sensei".
"No there is not."
She agreed with his statement. She firmly believed in being able to defend oneself for the world was a dangerous place. The innocent were always vulnerable. Eagerly the young children followed behind Kazuya till he stopped and demonstrated a particular stance for them to take. They weren't bad for starters, needing minor adjustments that he made so they got it right. Meanwhile Ano continued to watch over the others that were in the water or were wadding just off the shore. His eyes fluttered over to Eurydice wondering who the stranger was but was content on not being overprotective considering nothing seemed alarming.
"What's next, bru-Sensei!?"
Riley spoke up wanting to jumped into all.
"Patience is a virtue. Something you've always lacked."
The other two laughed as Eurydice smirked. Riley would make a face consisting of wrinkling his nose towards her and she would respond in kind. Riley had the occasion of being a bit naughty but he had a good relationship with Eurydice that held respect either way.

"Now we can begin with a few basic techniques. Karate is more than just what you see in the movies. For many, it is not simply a means of to defend oneself, but instead, is a way of life. A way to learn patience, and that there is always more to learn. Which you seem to lack, Riley-kun, but you three don't need to worry about that. Watch what I do, and try to follow in unison."
Taking up the Naihanchi-dachi once more, his back facing the boys and girl, he would start out simple with some basic punches, which at first, looked like nothing special, but upon closer inspection, Kazuya was actually having his punches flow in unison, his arms moving in such a way that he always had the other arm ready in a defensive position. After demonstrating a little bit longer, he would then have the three do it on their own, as he would walk around them, watching and making sure they were punching correctly, without overextending their arms. Crouching down beside the girl, he would verbally guide her and the boy so that the two of them would execute the punch correctly, because while the techniques themselves were not overly complicated, the three kids were not Karate students, and he did not want them to hurt themselves in their enthusiasm. After letting them continue for a little bit more and he was satisfied, he would take his place at the front again, and this time, instead of punches, would demonstrate simple kicks, nothing overly complicated.
"Now then, try executing the kicks that I showed. I know it might seem boring at first, but everything begins with the basic building blocks, and Karate is no exception. Without the foundation, you will not be able to build up to the more advanced techniques. Go ahead you three."

We're in the same game Just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different devils.
Despite their eagerness they actually seemed to calm themselves just enough to listen and pay attention. Even Riley seemed lost in the explanation Kazuya had presented. Lost in the sense of being submerged in the teachings. It was only a few times she had seen the boy so focused into something. The boy and girl on the other hand always were engaging so there was no surprise there. After demonstrating the punches the children followed suit not entirely with the best forms but they were learning. Riley however was always a quick study. It was something that always impressed Eurydice about the young boy, his innate ability to pick things up and utilize them with almost complete ease
Though Riley didn't execute the moves to complete perfection his was still a bit more accurate than the others. Eurydice always tried to instill in them to not worry about perfection but be concerned with just completing the task at hand. There is no such thing as perfection there would always be flaws somewhere, even the tiniest possibly left unseen. Finding a large rock to sit on she sat herself there watching over them as he continued to instruct them. Amara seemed a little more eager to join the others in the water.
"Mommy can I go play with Ano and the others?"
"Yes. Be careful and don't stray from Ano."
"Ok!"
She watched her daughter scurry off to Ano, to whom she offered a waving gesture as everything was fine. She resumed watching Kazuya and the group as he moved on to kicks. The brunette mused to herself how it was funny that she never thought about giving them self defense lessons. She was well versed herself in various arts and it should've crossed her mind because everyone should know how to defend themselves. Life was unexpected. People should be prepared enough to handle it in some form or another.
"Hey guys, five more minutes then go join with the others and enjoy yourselves."
"Aww man, but I am enjoying myself Ms. Eury. Can't we continue?"
"Technically speaking he's kindly did you a service while we interrupted his time, I think we give him some of that back. Besides maybe if you all ask really nicely and pout in unison with your best puppy dog eyes, maybe you can convince him for another session."
Eurydice teased offering a wink to the kids who proceeded to do essentially what she said. Yes she knew he was blind but she had already deduced he had a way of seeing something at least. Besides the tones of their voices was the best indication to the looks on their faces as they gathered before him begging. Meanwhile she looked his way from her sitting spot chuckling. They would only stop once he agreed and if he did they would cheer and run off to Ano and the rest. That was very impish of Eurydice compared to how before she was more inclined leave it as his choice if he wanted to show them anything.

Giving his three impromptu students an approving nod of his head, most especially at Riley, who had quickly picked up the techniques for the punches and executed them with the ease of a regular Karate student, like he had learned it before. Though their punches weren't the most accurate, for beginners, they weren't half-bad, especially since they had never learned Karate before, and the movies weren't the best teachers in the world. Moving onto kicks soon after, once more letting the kids practice it for themselves, as it was better for them to learn of their own mistakes and correct it on their own, instead of him correcting it for them.
"Glancing" over at Eurydice, a slight smile could be seen tugging at the corners of his mouth as he turned back to the kids, gathered around him and begging him while putting on their best puppy dog eyes for him. Letting out a low 'heh', he would "stare" down back at them for a good 30 seconds, before finally nodding his head, casually folding his arms across his chest. The kids letting out cheers before running back over to the man looking after the other kids whom Eurydice had come with, "glancing" back over at Eurydice, he would step towards her, stopping beside her, a bit of space between the two of them.
"Aren't you the influence. Naturally, I don't mind teaching another session, when is their next "snow day," Ms. Eurydice?"
A slight smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, she was quite the tease, devilishly so. And as beautiful as she was, Kazuya had no interest in her, not because she had a daughter, but because the only person he would ever love was Emily, not to mention, he had a daughter of his own, back in Japan.
"I leave to go back to Japan in another week or so, so any time before then is fine with me."

Eurydice smiled, shrugging off the hidden notion she felt in his words. She trailed her eyes over to where the children ran off too so gleefully. They chatted among the others sharing what they just learned. Kazuya was going to have his hands full the next time.
"Eurydice is fine, or even Eury. I find it odd to be called Miss outside of the kids or formal settings."
She looked back to him after addressing the smaller topic. Learning about his return to Japan peaked her interest a bit as she had spent some time out there many a times. It was a country she often visited when given the chance. Truthfully in general she had taken a mild interest in him, however not because he was handsome. Romantic feelings or fantasies were far far from her mind. They actually didn't bother to surface. The interest was in his blindness and how quickly he had dried off. A clear indication that he was 'gifted', to which she hadn't known many at all.
"Regarding that 'snow day' probably not for a bit, however if you're able you can come down to where we normally are that would be nice. I do appreciate it, even though I might've egged it a bit."
She chuckled at the notion before continuing with a question of her own.
"So you're visiting from Japan? May I ask what it is you do there and what brought you here? Vacation maybe?"

"... Heh, alright then, Eurydice. I'll have to remember to get the address before the end of today. It can't be helped. Even if you hadn't egged it on, the kids probably would've begged me regardless. It's not everyday a Karate practitioner happens to be at the same place a group of kids are brought for a field trip."
And besides, it gave Kazuya something to do, seeing as this time, he had come to Hawaii not because of a contract, but for gang business. His father had ended up completely swarmed with company matters, and was unable to attend, so Kazuya, as the successor of the second generation head of the Hikari-gumi and acting leader, came in his stead. With the gang matters concluded last night, not to mention recruiting a few new members for the Hikari-gumi, Kazuya was free to do as he liked for the rest of the trip, so this was definitely better than just lounging around the hotel pool or in his room.
"I'm currently a full-time salaryman working in my family's company, Hikari Industries, working my up the corporate ladder, to prove I'm worthy of the position of Chief Financial Officer that awaits me. I was asked to come here to handle some company matters, since my father was busy and unable to come himself."
Not exactly the reason he was here, but it was as close to the truth as Kazuya could get, because gang matters were strictly confidential and on a need to know basis, meaning anyone who didn't need to know, wouldn't, and he didn't want to have to silence anyone, so that no one outside of the gang was aware of the underground gangs. Eurydice was a good, if devilish woman, and Kazuya didn't want to take any lives if he could help it.
"But since everything was settled with yesterday, I've got some free time. Teaching Karate is certainly better than just spending most of the day lounging at the hotel pool, so I suppose saying I'm on vacation is mostly right. If you ever visit Japan, let me know. I'd be more than happy to show you and your daughter around."
